Ghana 2024 Elections: Full List of Approved Presidential Candidates Announced

In a major development ahead of the December 7, 2024, presidential elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has officially disqualified Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP) from contesting. The announcement was made on Friday, September 20, 2024, through a communiqué released by the EC.

Why Were Bernard Mornah and Janet Nabla Disqualified?

Following the Filing of Nominations process, which ran from September 9 to September 13, 2024, the EC conducted a thorough review of all submitted Nomination Forms. This examination was to ensure that each presidential candidate met the legal requirements for the elections. According to the EC, Bernard Mornah and Janet Nabla, along with other candidates, failed to comply with specific legal criteria, leading to their disqualification.

Approved Presidential Candidates for the Ghana 2024 Elections

Despite the disqualifications, many prominent political figures have successfully completed the nomination process and are set to appear on the ballot for the December 7 elections. Below is the confirmed list of candidates:

  2. John Dramani Mahama – National Democratic Congress (NDC)
