Iconic Ghanaian hiplife musician, Kwaw Kese has stated that the Ghanaian music industry is in shambles.

In his opinion, Ghanaian musicians shouldn’t be begging for their songs to be played in their own country.

Kwaw Kese’s comments about the needlessness of musicians begging to get their songs played in the country comes after some concerned stakeholders of the music industry met with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in partnership with the Creative Arts Agency to launch an initiative dubbed the #PlayGhana initiative.

The initiative launched on Thursday, 14 December, 2023, aims at promoting Ghanaian music across the country ahead of the Christmas activities which will most definitely witness an influx of a high number of foreigners spending holidays in Ghana.

According to Kwaw Kese, Ghanaians advocating for massive airplay of local songs is a clear indication of an improper system.
