His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has distanced his government from having hand in any economic mismanagement and claims that external factors has been the cause of economic challenges Ghana is currently dealing with.

According to President Akufo-Addo, external factors which he had no control over were the main causes which distorted Ghana’s economy, he addressed the attendees of the May Day celebration on Wednesday 1st May, 2024.

“Ghana’s recent economic challenges were not self-inflicted. Until the pandemic, we were, year-on-year during my first term, one of the fastest-growing economies in the entire world.

“The global landscape was subsequently severely impacted by external factors beyond our control, foremost amongst them being the COVID-19 pandemic,” President said.

He further asserted that, “moreover, the escalation of tensions following the Russian invasion of Ukraine further exacerbated these difficulties leading to increased volatility in global markets and heightened uncertainties.”

President Akufo-Addo seized the opportunity to assure the labour front of his government’s prepared to find solutions to all issues affecting labour in this country.
