Ursula Ekuful-Owusu has responded to the member of Parliament for the North-Tongu constituency and a Ranking member on the foreign affairs committee in Parliament, Hon Okudzeto Ablakwa on allegations of her awarding a contract without the approval from the public procurement authority.

The Ghana Investment Funds for Electronic Communications an agency under the Ministry of Communication, confirmed the awarding of a contract to Ascend Digital Solutions Limited to execute engineering design, build, rollout, and manage services with respect to operating all aspects of mobile and backhand Network infrastructure. This contract is in relation to the flagship Rural Telephony project involving cell sites in several communities.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa iterated that, he had made checks with the public procurement authority about a USD$48 million contract approval. He was informed that the PPA had no such blessings in their books.

However, the minister for communication, Ursula Ekuful-Owusu has expressed her displeasure about the tangent Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has decided to spell out false allegations to the public. Ursula Ekuful-Owusu took to her social media page on Saturday 8th of July,2023 saying “I’m still waiting for the $ 48 million contract I’m supposed to have signed without PPA approval. That hasn’t been produced yet Ablakwa is now jumping from pillar to post! I won’t dignify ignorant rants with a response”.
