John Palasik passed away on November 15, 2022, after a long illness. Growing up in Milton, Palasik spent decades as a police officer in Milton, Winooski, and the National Guard. He had been ill for some time and died this morning at a hospice, according to officials. According to town manager Don Turner, Milton is having a down day. Saturday is the day of the funeral. Governor Phil Scott has ordered that all state flags be flown at half-staff in honor of Palasik.

In 2018, the Milton Republican was elected to the Statehouse for the first time. He also served in the Milton Police Department, the Vermont National Guard, and the Army. Palasik died on Tuesday morning, according to Governor Phil Scott’s statement. “John brought his knowledge and valuable perspective to Montpelier, where he fought tirelessly for his hometown of Milton.” “His voice and contributions at the Statehouse will be missed,” Scott added. The Vermont state flag will be flown at half-staff on the day of Palasik’s funeral.
