The Kids In Tourism Ghana, a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing young minds about the tourism and cultural wealth of Ghana, embarked on a meaningful endeavor on Friday 8th March 2024.

Led by their dedicated CEO, Nana Akua Afriyie, Kids In Tourism Ghana paid a courtesy call to H.E Thomas Okyere, the Botswana Honorary Consul. This initiative underscores their commitment to promoting cultural exchange and fostering international relations.

During the visit, the young members of The Kids In Tourism Ghana presented a pencil portrait to H.E Thomas Okyere. The portrait was crafted by Christine Afrah Attakorah, a 14 Years old form 3 student from Vichans International School.

This thoughtful gesture symbolizes their appreciation for his support and involvement in their mission. By presenting a portrait, they not only express gratitude but also acknowledge his role in promoting cultural understanding and collaboration between Ghana and Botswana.

During the courtesy call, H.E Thomas Okyere graciously accepted the pencil portrait presented to him by The Kids In Tourism Ghana. With a warm smile, he expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful gesture and commended the organization for its dedication to promoting tourism and cultural awareness among Ghana’s youth.

In his few words, H.E Thomas Okyere emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and collaboration in fostering stronger bonds between nations. He highlighted the significance of initiatives like The Kids In Tourism Ghana in nurturing a generation that values and celebrates diversity.

“On behalf of the Botswana Consulate, A very Thank you for the good things you’ve been doing, and Nana (Nana Akua Afriyie) thank you for bringing up the children, it is actually time we get to learn about Ghana, as you are Bring the kids together to learn about Ghana, inculcate with them to know what is in Ghana and to explore what is in Ghana.” He said


“Children are great influencers of tourism because they influence their parents with the choice of places they want to visit, and as well influence places they visit because they can recommend those places to others.” he added.

The collaboration between The Kids In Tourism Ghana and the Botswana Honorary Consul exemplifies the power of partnerships in advancing cultural exchange initiatives. It highlights the importance of youth engagement in promoting cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

KIT was initiated on February 12, 2015, and officially launched on December 12, 2019, in Accra.

The aim of KIT Ghana is to educate young ones, help them to develop their creativity, expose and instil in them the rich tourism and culture resources of Ghana.
