Matthijs de Ligt joins Manchester United on a permanent transfer deal

Manchester United FC have been able to secure the signature of Mattihijs de Ligt on a permanent transfer deal.

Matthijs de Ligt after completing two seasons with German Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich has agreed to join Manchester United in the English Premier League as he deems the current Manchester United’s project as a perfect one for his football career.

Manchester United had agreed on all personal terms with the Netherlands and Bayern Munich’s defender last two months and have been able to seal the transfer for a fee of €45 million including add-ons of €5 million.

Further, after Matthijs de Ligt inking a five-year and a year of optional extension; he expressed his delight in joining one of the traditional clubs in the English Premier League.

“As soon as i heard that Manchester United wanted me, i felt an excitement about the opportunity for a new challenge at such a historic club,” he said.

Matthijs de Ligt seized the opportunity to eulogized his former manager at Ajax FC, Erik Ten Hag and further appreciated the works of his former boss which has improved him as a player.

“Erik ten Hag shaped the early stages of my career so he knows how to get the best out of me. I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level.”

De Ligt acknowledged the ongoing project at Manchester United which he claimed was as a factor which prompted him to choose the club over other clubs.

“In the conversations that i had with Manchester United, I was impressed by the vision that the football leadership set out. I was also impressed with the role they saw for me in it,” Matthijs de Ligt added.
