António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres is a politician and diplomat from Portugal. He has been the United Nations Secretary-General since 2017, the ninth person to hold the position. Guterres, a member of the Portuguese Socialist Party, was Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002. From 1992 to 2002, Guterres was the secretary-general of the Socialist Party.
