Riley Gaines, an American swimmer from Gallatin, Tennessee, who used to swim for the University of Kentucky NCAA team, was named the 2022 Southeastern Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is also known as Riley Gaines Barker and is against trans women competing in women’s sports. She studied at the University of Kentucky.

With her open declaration causing threats to her life, Gaines made an appearance at San Francisco State University, addressing a Turning Point USA student chapter gathering. During her speech, she discussed her stance against transgender athletes participating in women’s sports. Following the event, a group of protesters assembled, prompting law enforcement to escort Gaines to a classroom for her safety. She remained there for about 2-3 hours while the protesters continued their demonstration outside. After the incident, Gaines reported that she had been physically assaulted by an individual during the protest.

Riley’s family background undoubtedly reveals why she is very talented. Coming from a family with active participation in sports, she has proven to the world without doubts that if something runs through the family, one cannot be exempted from it.
Riley Gaines father is Brad Gaines. As a sportsman, he played football for Vanderbilt University. He got married to Riley’s mother, Telisha Gaines, another sports woman who played the softball for Austin Peay and Donelson Christian Academy.

Apart from his previous active sports participation, he came into the limelight mainly because of his daughter’s fame and doesn’t have much information revealed about him.
