Todrick Hall is a singer, songwriter, choreographer, and YouTuber from the United States. He rose to national prominence during the ninth season of the televised singing competition American Idol, where he reached the semi-finals.
Todrick was born on the 4th of April 1985 in Planeview Texas. He couldn’t get fatherly love as he was raised by his mother. His mother married later and he got a stepfather and a brother from her mother’s marriage.
At age 15, Todrick made it known to his family that he is gay. However, he began performing on weekends at the amusement park Six Flags Over Texas when he was 16 years old. Todrick attributes his tenacious work ethic to a lack of opportunities in the entertainment industry as a black gay man.
Todrick auditioned for the Broadway production of The Color Purple with Oprah Winfrey and Fantasia Barrino when he was twenty years old. In May 2006, he joined the video-sharing platform YouTube, where he created over 300 videos over the next five years.
