Akufo-Addo Optimistic Entering Election Year 2024. As 2023 drew to a close, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed hopefulness for prosperity in Ghana during 2024. He spoke briefly to Citi News while attending a New Year’s eve church service.

Despite economic turbulence last year, inflation declined markedly in the second half of 2023, signalling potential recovery. The upcoming election cycle also breeds optimism for Akufo-Addo.

Ghanaians will vote on December 7th, 2024 to select their next president. Akufo-Addo voiced confidence his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will emerge victorious as the candidate to succeed him. He expects free and fair elections.

Beyond the dominant political parties NPP and NDC, who have respectively nominated Dr. Bawumia and former president John Dramani Mahama, other contenders are anticipated to join the open presidential race.

With the economy rebounding and his preferred successor gearing up to campaign, Akufo-Addo appears upbeat about Ghana’s direction entering this pivotal election year. The coming months will determine whether his confidence is well-founded.

“It’s going to be a good and peaceful year. We will have a clean election to elect our new president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”
