The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has called on all citizens to ensure the 2024 parliamentary and presidential election is held with fairness and transparency.

Addressing the need for a free and fair election in his Christmas message to the people of Ghana, the President stressed on the inevitability to choose a new leader to rule the country for the next four years.

In his address, he stated that next year is a very important year in the country’s democratic journey because Ghana will hold its ninth general election in the history of the fourth Republic.

He further disclosed that based on the fact that Ghana has been recognized as a highly democratic countries in Africa, he believes that it is the collective duty of citizens to conduct themselves in a manner that will ensure there is the conduction of a free and fair election.

He also highlighted that it is appropriate for citizens to make it a duty to ensure the election is conducted in a way that will enable the people of Ghana choose a leader who will rule for the next four years, in a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

After making this disclosure, Nana Addo affirmed that he believes Ghana will come out successful after next year’s election adding that he is confident Ghanaians will rise to the occasion and uphold the country’s status as a bastion of democracy in Africa.
