Legendary Real Madrid player Gareth Bale has identified several players who can ‘naturally’ replace Lionel Messi in European football, including Erling Haaland, Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish, and Phil Foden.
Messi recently disclosed that, upon the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain on June 30, he would sign with Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami as a free agent.
The remarkable run Messi had in European football will come to an end with his transfer to Inter Miami.
When asked which players he thought could take Messi’s position, the Welshman told BT Sport: “[Erling] Haaland is obviously on fire, he’s done well at all the clubs he’s been at.
“Obviously, more talent will go through. In the Premier League, Rashford is coming through, Grealish, Foden, there’s a lot of good players coming through.
“It is the same in any sport. There is a transition period and people will just naturally take over.”
