Who was Courtney Kampa?
Courtney Kampa was born in Virginia and grew up there. She received her education in Virginia. She later earned a BA and an MFA from the University of Virginia.
Her poetry was featured in The Boston Review, Three Quarterly, Missouri Review, The Wall Street Journal, National Poetry Review, and the New England Review, among many other publications.
Courtney won the Press’s First Book Award for her debut novel Our Lady of Not Asking Why, which was chosen by National Book Award winner Mary Szybist.
Courtney Kampa has also been honored by The Atlantic, Poets & Writers Magazine, The North American Review, and Best New Poet. In addition, she received the David Craig Austin Memorial Award for Observative Essay and the Rattle Poetry Prize Readers’ Choice Award from Columbia University in 2014.
