Iconic Ghanaian raggae-dancehall musician, Samini has descended heavily on his colleague musician, Shatta Wale over the recently announced #PlayGhana initiative, an initiative that seeks to promote locally produced songs in Ghana.
The initiative spearheaded by the Director of the Creative Arts Agency, Ms. Gyankromah Akufo-Addo, seeks to encourage Ghanaian DJs and music producers to promote Ghanaian songs over the Christmas holidays to amp up the popularity of local music.
The recent campaign masterminded by Ms Gyankroma gave rise to a lot of criticisms as usual. Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall musician, Shatta Wale questioned viability and sustainability of the initiative and motivations on the social media space.
Shatta, in a recent post shared on social media, doubted the initiative’s chances of success and mocked the rationale of banning the promotion of foreign music in Ghana.
In response to this, Samini quickly reacted to the post made Shatta, questioning the Melissa hitmaker’s reason behind mocking the #PlayGhana initiative.
According to Samini, Shatta Wale is mocking the initiative and criticizing it’s viability because the idea didn’t come from him.
