Jesse Powell was one of the musicians that contributed to the 1990s mainstreaming of modern R&B. After signing with Silas/MCA in the mid-1990s and releasing his self-titled first album, he made his imprint on R&B. The album’s lead single was “All I Need.”
His sophomore album “‘Bout It” was published in 1998 and went gold, becoming his most successful effort. Along with the successful track “You,” he also had another great hit with “I Wasn’t with It.” Jesse Powell went on to release two more albums before fading from view.
