Award winning Ghanaian journalist, Nana Aba Anamoah has in a recent statement pleaded with all companies in Ghana to stop sending service personnel and interns at their institutions on errands.

According to the Ghone broadcaster, the service personnel’s were sent to the institutions to learn and serve the nation and not to go buy waakye, beans, koko for staffs.

Nana Aba Anamoah also said in an interview making trends that she has noticed a pattern where interns and NSS employees are sent on errands to buy “waakye” and given various boring activities that have no clear relation to what they were deployed to these firms to learn.

Nana Aba went ahead to advise the companies to provide interns and NSS personnel with the necessary skills and information to put them up for professional success.

Here are her words;

“Just because the old toiled to get to where they now do not imply that those coming up must suffer as they did.” I have a problem with media houses; we don’t offer young people adequate opportunities. “When an intern is posted, he or she is assigned to ‘waakye’ buying tasks until he or she is fed up,”
