The Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu Ekuful has warned broadcasters hosted on the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) platform to make payments for the usage of the platform or risk having their television signals truncated.
In a recent disclosure made by the Communication Minister, she revealed that most of the broadcasters who use of the DTT platform have not paid for it and if things are not done the right way, they will be left with no option than to shut down their television platforms for non-payment of operational expenses incurred over the past few years.
According to Ursula, there are constituent members who are broadcasters on the digital platform who haven’t paid a dime for being hosted on the platform.
Furthermore, she indicated that the payment for usage of this platform was initially made by the government but it cannot continue to make payment for broadcasters looking at the current state of the country’s economy.
In line with this disclosure, she advised broadcasters to make payment for usage of the platform or have their television signals not truncated in the coming year.
