Clint Eastwood is an American actor, filmmaker, musician, and politician. He has starred in more than 30 films and is best known for his roles as the Man with No Name in Sergio Leone’s Dollars trilogy of spaghetti Westerns; as Harry Callahan in the Dirty Harry films; as Inspector William “Bill” Gannon in the “Dirty Harry” series; and as Frank Horrigan in the Line of Fire series.

In addition to acting in movies, Eastwood also directed “Mystic River,” “Letter from Iwo Jima,” “Changeling,” “Invictus,” and “American Sniper” (2014). Gene Hackman, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, and Hilary Swank all gave Oscar-winning performances under Eastwood’s direction in “Unforgiven,” “Mystic River,” and “Million Dollar Baby.”

All but four of Eastwood’s American movies since 1967 have been made under his Malpaso Productions company. From 1986 to 1988, Eastwood held the nonpartisan post of mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, for two years.
