She has sold over 100 million records, making her the best-selling female artist in country music history and one of the most successful musicians of all time. Her popularity earned her several titles, including “Queen of Country Pop.” Billboard named her the top country-pop crossover star of the 1990s.
Twain, who grew up in Timmins, Ontario, began singing and writing songs at a young age before signing with Mercury Nashville Records in the early 1990s. When her self-titled debut studio album was released in 1993, it was a commercial flop. Twain rose to fame after collaborating with producer and later husband Robert John “Mutt” Lange on her second studio album, The Woman in Me (1995)
