Boti Falls History

Boti Falls runs from a river called Ponpom and has its source 25 miles from Boti. The right-hand fall is the male and the left-hand fall is the female. The boti falls were detected by a hunter in 1906 whiles he when hunting. Upon seeing the fall he called a catholic priest to also come and see what he had seen. That was how the name Boti came about thanks to the priest who couldn’t mention aboaneti and said boti.

The level of the water is 250 meters, and the staircase that leads down to the waterfall is a 250 staircase constructed by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. There are actually two falls at Boti: The Upper Falls and the Lower Falls. These are the main features of the Boti Falls The locals describe it as male and female.

When the volume of water is high, especially during the rainy season, the two meet in what the locals describe as ‘a mating ceremony’. This ceremony is ‘graced’ by the rainbow formed by the splashing water. It opens up to a sandy coast that’s perfect for picnicking during the dry season. The pool at the base of the waterfall is generally safe to swim in. Canoe rides are available to ferry you closer to the falls from the shore for a nominal fee.
