Cecilia Dapaah is a politician from Ghana who was born on November 27, 1954. She was a former representative for the Bantama constituency and a member of the New Patriotic Party.

Cecilia Dapaah, who was born on November 27, 1954, is from Mpasatia in the Ashanti Region. She studied at the University of Ghana, where in 1979 she earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and Linguistics.

She has a postgraduate certificate in International Development Studies from the University of Oslo and a certificate in leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Dapaah served as President John Kufour’s personal assistant and was a development worker by trade. She was chosen to serve as Ghana Cocoa Processing Company’s board chair in 2001.

In 2005, she was appointed the deputy minister for water resources, works and housing after being removed from the board. Until the end of the John Kufour administration in 2008, she was appointed as a substantive minister in 2007.

Dapaah ran in and won the Bantama constituency elections during the 2008 general elections. Out of the 48,476 votes cast, she received 36,708, or 75.7% of the total valid votes. From 2009 to 2013, Cecilia Dapaah served as a delegate to the Ghanaian Parliament.

She participated in a number of parliamentary committees in Ghana, including those for Works and Housing, Employment, Social Welfare and Youth, Foreign Affairs, and Special Budget.

In the 2004 general elections in Ghana, Dapaah was chosen to serve as the representative for the Bantama constituency in the Ashanti Region. She was elected using the New Patriotic Party’s platform.

Her district was one of the 36 parliamentary seats out of 39 that the New Patriotic Party won in the Ashanti Region during that election. Out of 230 parliamentary seats, the New Patriotic Party received a majority victory with 128 seats.

With 41,064 of the 49,174 valid votes cast, or 83.5% of the total valid votes cast, she was elected. Alhasan Napoh of the National Democratic Congress and Yaw Owusu Boafo of the Convention People’s Party lost to her in the election. These received 14.8% and 1.7% of the total valid votes cast, respectively.

She was proposed by President Akuffo-Addo on January 7 for the position of aviation minister. On February 8th, 2017, she underwent a background check by the Ghanaian Parliament’s Appointments Committee.

She affirmed during her background investigation that she would advance Ghana’s aviation sector and that her top priority was to launch a national airline by 2019. She believed that Ghana was losing out on several million cedis in revenue because the carrier was not available.

Ghana International Airlines was the last national airline to go out of business in 2010. She declared that Ghana was making progress towards its goal of becoming the region’s aviation hub in March 2017.
