Two housekeepers of Cecilia Dapaah, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour, are accused of stealing money and other items worth millions of Ghana Cedis from the couple’s home in Abelemkpe, Accra. They are being prosecuted before an Accra Circuit Court.
The accused, Patience Botwe, 18, and Sarah Agyei, 30, are accused of stealing the couple’s money and possessions between July and October 2022. US$1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis are among the stolen goods.
The Chronicle newspaper reported that Sarah was a former house help and that Patience, also known as Maabena, was a house help for the complainants. Kuffour caught Patience hiding in their bedroom, and the couple was shocked to learn of the theft.
Patience was remanded into legal custody along with her purported boyfriends and father. Because she is a nursing mother, Sarah was granted bail; her bail requirement is GH$ 1,000,000 with 2 sureties.
Further investigations showed that Patience and her alleged boyfriends used the stolen money to rent an apartment in Tamale, buy a car, and spend a lot of money on various items. Additionally, Sarah built a three-bedroom house with her share of the funds, which is where she was later detained.
