Chartered Economist, Bernard Oduro Takyi popularly known as BOT has donated an amount of GHS 100,000 to support the 2024 campaign of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), H.E John Dramani Mahama.
Bernard Oduro Takyi in the company of his wife, Jacqueline Takyi led a group of NDC activists to make this presentation to the NDC flagbearer at his office in Cantonments, Accra on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
In addition to the GHC 100,000 donated specifically for Mr. Mahama’s campaign, he also donated an amount of GHS 110,000 to support the NDC’s activities in some selected constituencies. The selected constituencies, according to the chartered economist and politician, are constituencies without NDC MPs.
The constituencies include Sunyani West, Sunyani East, Berekum West, Hohoe, Essikado Ketan, Mpohor, Mfantsiman, and Dome-Kwabenya.
Interacting with Mr. Mahama during the donation, BOT further announced that this is the first of many donations that would be done to support the NDC’s campaign ahead of the elections in 2024.
He further pledged to mobilize resources to support other activities of the party as the NDC gears to wrestle power from the governing New Patriotic Party.
“When I came to the NDC, I realized that it is a big family and they welcome all manner of people and that is the reason I have to do everything to help the party’s cause ahead of the elections,” Oduro Takyi said.
Mr Mahama who was impressed after receiving the cheque commended BOT and his friends for the kind gesture. The former president said he was ready to work hard and win the elections to create employment opportunities for the youth and “reset” the country’s governance.
In March this year, former President John Dramani Mahama launched a digitalized retail donation campaign platform to mobilize monies from Ghanaians both locally and from those in the diaspora to aid his 2024 campaign.
He explained that the channel for the donation amongst others includes an official Zenith bank account number, a John Mahama campaign mobile money number, a USSD code, and a John Mahama fundraising mobile App.
