Just one week after being admitted to the hospital for what was believed to be a heart attack, DMX, the actual name Earl Simmons, passed away. Fans and celebrities alike paid their respects. His mother, Arnett Simmons, his siblings, and his fifteen children, as well as their mothers, are still alive.
DMX Cause Of Death: How did DMX die?
DMX reportedly had a heart attack on Friday, April 2, 2021, at approximately 11 p.m. He was taken by ambulance to White Plains Hospital in New York, where he was stated to be in a severe condition.
According to reports, a narcotics overdose may have caused the heart attack. The next day, his lawyer revealed DMX was on life support but stated he was unsure of what may have triggered the heart attack.
That evening, paramedics reportedly tried to revive the rapper after he apparently had cerebral hypoxia, or brain oxygen loss. In a “vegetative state” with “lung and brain failure and no current brain activity,” according to DMX’s former manager Nakia Walker, he was.
DMX’s manager, Steve Rifkind, revealed on Tuesday, April 6th, that the rapper was in a coma and would undergo brain function tests, adding that his “family will determine what’s best from there.”
Two days later, Rifkind addressed erroneous rumors that the rapper had died on social media, urging people to stop spreading disinformation.
“Yes, he is on life support, but please: spreading false rumors isn’t helping anyone,” he remarked. “Give the family a night off. You’ll be hearing from the family sometime tomorrow… the only thing I want is stop with the rumours.”
On Friday, April 9th, the death of DMX was confirmed.
