How many hours did Afua Asantewaa sing?
Afua began her challenge on December 24, 2023, singing continuously over 5 days until December 29th. Reports indicate she performed over 1000 songs while standing, sitting, lying down and squatting.
By singing for more than 126 hours, Afua exceeded Waghmare’s official record by over 21 hours. However, Guinness will review submitted evidence and may deduct some time for short breaks taken.
Waghmare has held the record since 2012 when he sang for 105 consecutive hours. He developed his musical skills in India from age 14 under the tutelage of his guru.
Now that Afua has completed her awe-inspiring feat, all that remains is for Guinness World Records to authenticate her effort as a new record. Ghanaians rallied behind her throughout the grueling multi-day endurance test at Akwaaba Village.
Regardless of whether Afua’s attempt is officially verified, she has demonstrated immense perseverance and cemented her status as a rising Ghanaian star. By pushing her body and voice to the limits, Afua has inspired people everywhere with her determination.
