Afua Asantewaa Aduonum clinched the Guinness World Record title for the lengthiest solo singing marathon. By the time the clock struck 7 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, Afua had sung continuously for an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes. This achievement surpasses the previous record-holder, Indian vocalist Sunil Waghmare, who achieved a 105-hour performance back in March 2012.
On Thursday, December 28, 2023, at precisely 9:10 a.m., Afua surpassed Waghmare’s milestone and continued for an additional 21 hours. Her remarkable journey began at the stroke of midnight on December 24, 2023, at Akwaaba village.
As an entrepreneur deeply passionate about music, Afua committed her marathon entirely to showcasing Ghanaian melodies. Her mesmerizing performances attracted a diverse audience, including renowned musicians and influential politicians.
