James Dee Crowe popularly known as J.D. Crowe is an American musician born on the 27th of August, 1937. His genre of music is Bluegrass. He was a banjo player and a bluegrass band leader.

J.D. Crowe was born in Lexington in Kentucky. Crowe had his first job which was offered to him by Raymond Parker when he was still a teenager. He started playing the banjo and was later offered a job to work with Jimmy Martin’s Sunny Mountain Boys in the year 1954.

How Did J.D. Crowe Die?

James Dee Crowe died on the 24th of December, 2021 at the age of 84. Crowe is known to have been suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The actual cause of his death has not been disclosed even though he is known to be suffering from COPD.

His family announced his death on Friday evening stating, “This morning at around 3 a.m, our dad, J.D. Crowe, went home. Prayers needed for all this difficult time,” this was the post found on his fun club page.

Strings also wrote on his page, “Woke up this morning to hear the sad news about J.D. Crowe. What can I say? He was an absolute legend, he will be remembered as one of the greatest to ever play bluegrass music. He had tone, taste and timing like no other. The space in between the notes he played and the way he rolled them out just kept the band driving, running on all cylinders like V8 engine. He was just the best bluegrass banjo player out there, man.”
