Member Of Parliament for the Assin-Central constituency, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has rejected calls by a group of his supporters to contest for the 2024 presidential seat as an independent candidate.

This comes after the Assin-Central legislator lost out in the recent NPP primaries after Bawumia was declared the next flagbearer of the party, having polled 61.47% of the votes cast in the presidential primary election which saw roughly 200,000 delegates vote to choose a flagbearer ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

The Chairman of Kennedy Agyapong’s group of supporters, Kwabena Yankey made it clear in a recent conference held by the group that fans of the legislator are advocating for him, and are urging to him contest the forthcoming election as an independent candidate for a massive victory in 2024.

According to Kwabena Yankey, despite the recent fallbacks in the NPP, they still believe that supporting Kennedy as an independent candidate is crucial for Ghanaians to enhance growth, innovation and social welfare of the country.

Divergent to these calls, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, while speaking at the USA edition of the ‘Showdown’ thanksgiving party at Minnesota, the NPP bigwig assured those present that he is not going to leave the NPP.

He stated emphatically that, he is not in for any speculations and as such fans of the NPP should be rest assured that he is still with the NPP and will continue to be with them no matter what.
