The ex-President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, was officially instated as the ‘Development Chief’ of the Penyi Traditional Area within the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.

This significant event took place during a vibrant gathering of local chiefs and residents of Penyi. Mr. Mahama was given the title Togbi Dunenyo I, becoming the Nugoryifia of the Penyi Traditional Area. As the special guest of honor at the recently concluded Penyi Nugoryiza, he received a warm welcome from the community, marked by an enthusiastic crowd, drumming, and dancing.

The Paramount Chief of Penyi, Togbiga Dadzi V, commended Mr. Mahama for accepting their invitation and took the opportunity to express gratitude to the NDC for their contributions to the area’s development. He also expressed hope for more development projects when the NDC regains power. Penyi Nugoryiza is an annual festival celebrated by the chiefs and residents of Penyi, one of the four traditional areas in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.
