Parliament has issued immediate arrest of the Northern Regional Director for the National Sports Authority for it’s inability to deposit an excess of GH¢160,000 into the internally generated funds
In the 2022 Auditor General’s reports indicated that, the Northern Regional Management of the Sports Authority wasn’t able to spend prudently from the fund. In that same vein, all fingers points to the fact that, zero or no respect was given to the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019.
However, the Regional Director failed to appear before the Public Accounts committee of Parliament after he was summoned to show up before the committee to provide accounts to how he failed to deposit the money which belong to the Authority.
The chairman of the committee, Hon James Klutse Avedzi has directed the Ghana Police service to arrest the Director and the accountant of the Northern Regional National Sports Authority
“We are instructing the police to pick up the Regional Director and Accountant of the region without delay. You were invited to testify before Parliament, and you declined, despite being aware that you had misused over GH¢160,000, presuming that you would escape consequences.”
