His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has iterated the benefits his Free Senior High School Policy has been to Ghanaians.

On the 27th of February, 2024, President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo in his State of the Nation Address, laid emphasis on the positive effect his Free Senior High School has had on the Ghanaian youths.

His Excellency further boasted of all efforts made by his government in making the free SHS a feasible programme which would mitigate the level of illiteracy in the country.

“Mr Speaker, right from the start of the government coming into office, we have sort to make efforts on the education and training of the youths as the base for building the prosperous nation we seek.”

“Not being able to go to secondary school for lack of money was widespread and accepted phenomena, that it led to some people thinking senior high school was not meant for them or their children or for people from their village …” He said

President Nana Addo stressed on the fact that, the implementation of the Free Senior High School had defeat all critiques by people since, the policy has become a game changer in the country.

“Free SHS might be labeled by distructors as a mere political slogan that must be demonised. But it is in fact a transformative programme that has broken myths and liberated minds.”

“It is humbling on one hand and frightening on the other to think of the share number of talents the Free SHS has unearth, that will otherwise had ended their formal education at the Basic Education Certificate Exams (B.E.C.E) and know, we will get more Engineers, Doctors, Architects, Writers and Poets,” President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo added.
