Pros of Social Media Lifestyle

Social media is now considered the most reliable source to know what is happening in the outside world. The newspapers and TV news channels have become redundant, as we seek this information on our preferred channels like Facebook. Twitter, Instagram, Connected, or Helo. The power of social media has reduced the size of the world, and it’s all because of its phenomenal reach.

Social media is also the fastest, and the most reliable medium when it comes to spreading knowledge, and information from one part of the world to another. Social media has made us more aware of our basic rights, and it also acts as a link between the government and people since even our governments are heavily dependent on social media to convey people about their important policies and decisions.

It’s especially beneficial to students who get opportunities to develop skills and learn about new topics by watching educational videos. We come to know about various promotional and discount offers through advertisements, and campaigns shown on various social media channels helping us to make the right choices as per our needs and budget.

Social media is also used for career advancements and discovering new opportunities. Nowadays, most of the recruitment at the middle and top-level is done through social media references. Even companies check the social media profile of shortlisted candidates because a lot can be found out about candidates through their posts, comments and reviews made on popular channels like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Cons:

Too much exposure to social media has created an addiction among users. Young adults and teenagers are especially more prone to develop anxiety and depression as a result of excessive use of such platforms. Being not mentally mature, they often get carried away by the visuals and posts from celebrities. They begin comparing themselves with the glossy, and glamorous lifestyle of models and film stars, and develop a sense of inadequacy and inferiority complex.

Social media is full of inappropriate content that either encourages violence or drug addiction. Teenagers often fall victim to such vices and destroy their life. They resort to violence at the slightest provocation considering its normal behavior. There are lots of surveys that prove that long exposure to violence on social media tends to make our children aggressive, insecure, and less trusting.

Social media has a major impact on people’s lifestyle. It is for them to use it for their growth and general wellbeing, or get influenced by bad role models and make a complete mess of their lives.
