Vince Dooley Wife: Who Is Barbara Meshad?  

Vince Dooley was a college football coach who led the Georgia Bulldogs for 25 years. He is one of the most successful coaches in college football history, with six SEC championships and thirteen SEC tournament titles.

Dooley was born on September 21, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Georgia Tech from 1948 to 1952 and played on the Yellow Jackets’ football team as a quarterback and punter. He graduated from Georgia Tech with an engineering degree in 1952.

In 1955, he completed his master’s degree at Georgia Tech and became a member of the school’s faculty as an assistant professor of physical education. In 1956, he became head coach for the school’s freshman team and by 1957 he was the head coach for all teams at Georgia Tech.

In 1962, he took over as head coach at his alma mater, the University of Georgia (UGA). He retired after 25 years as UGA’s head coach with a record of 191-77-10

Barbara Meshad is the wife of Vince Dooley, a former head football coach at the University of Georgia. She is a retired public school teacher.

She was born Barbara Jeanette Jones on September 27, 1940, in Birmingham, Alabama. Her father was a steelworker and her mother was a homemaker. She attended Auburn University for her undergraduate degree and then went on to receive her Master’s from the University of Georgia in 1966.

After graduation, she taught high school English for several years before she married Vince Dooley in 1970. They have two children together, Kathi and Scott. In 1975 she became an assistant professor at UGA and has been teaching there ever since until she retired in 2014.
