The president of the republic of Ghana, Mr Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged all African countries to desist from always seeking for aid from the western world in order to attain respect as Africans.

In delivering his remarks at the US-Africa Leaders’ summit which is being held at Washington DC, President Akufo-Addo endeavored to preach the gospel of self reliance to all African countries, sticking to the fact that, African countries have more than enough resources hence when harnessed properly, would averting all forms of aid African countries seek from the West.

“If we stop being beggars and spend spend African money within the continent, Africa will not need to ask for respect from anyone, we will get the respect we deserve. If we make it prosperous as it should be, respect will follow,” president Akufo-Addo said.

President Akufo-Addo further acknowledged the efforts Africans put into thier work in the Western world which is making the continent prosper in all the facets of the western economy. In that, he urge Africans to join forces in order to alleviate the continent to an enviable position in the world.

“Africans are more resilient outside the continent than inside. We must bear in mind that to the outside world, [there’s] nothing like Nigeria, Ghana or Kenya, we are simply Africans. Our destiny as people depends on each other,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
