Ghanaian high-life singer, Kwabena Kwabena has come out to state that the #PlayGhana initiative launched by the Creative Arts Council and Ministry of Tourism will not sustain its purpose.

Giving reasons why the initiative isn’t feasible, the Dadianoma hitmaker revealed that most of these Ghanaian DJs are on the payroll of Nigerian musicians.

He further disclosed that, in the entertainment industry, money play a vital role in the promotion of songs in Ghana and that is one major reason why the initiative that seeks to ensure the promotion of local Ghanaian music won’t work.

According to him, anytime they go for promotion of their songs, the DJs make it clear to them Nigerian musicians pay very well.

He further disclosed that most of the DJs and influencers he has spoken to have attested to the fact that Nigerian musicians give them good treatment and pay them very well.

In line with this disclosure, Kwabena Kwabena made it clear he doesn’t think any of these DJs or influencers will limit themselves to pushing Ghanaian songs more than Nigerian and other foreign songs.

He went on to state that when Nigerian musicians release songs they have people in Ghana they pay to promote it for them and that is one reason why it will be difficult for them to abide by the rule of the #PlayGhana initiative.
