The Volga river is the largest river in the entire continent of Europe.

The Volga river is lengthiest river in Europe and it can be found in Russia, specifically, the Southern and Central part of the country.

Further, the Volga river has a length of about 3,531km, and a catchment area of 1,360,000km² which flows from the Southern and Central part of Russia into the Caspian Sea.

However, the Caspian Sea is also the world’s largest inland water body, which is often described as the full-fledged sea or lake. It is situated about 500km east of the Black Sea, between Southeastern Europe and Western Asia, east of the Caucasus Mountain, South of the vast Eurasian Steppe, and West of the Karakum and Kyzylkum Desert of Central Asia.

Meanwhile, the Caspian Sea engulfs five countries which is located in Europe and Asian continen. That is Russia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. More so, the Caspian Sea covers approximately 371,000 square kilometers which is equivalent to 143,200 square miles.

The Volga drains as a result of its many and large reservoirs, provides Hydro-electric power which serve as a source of electricity for both domestic and industries while it also serves as the major source of water for plant cultivation through irrigation systems.
