Ivorian football legend, Yaya Toure has come out to reveal names of his top-class favorite African teams for the upcoming African Cup Of Nations (AfCON) tournament scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast next year.
Next year’s AFCON tournament promises to be an exciting one inferring from the group pairings being made.
Furthermore, it will be the second time Ivory Coast is hosting the biennial continental football competition since they last hosted in 1984.
Yaya Toure, being of one of Africa’s most celebrated football players, raised eyebrows after omitting six times champions, Egypt and African powerhouse, Nigeria from his list of favorites for next year’s AFCON trophy.
Instead, the former Arsenal player made a list of African teams that most football fans least expected him select from inferring from their recent form and the records they have as far as the AfCON tournament is concerned.
As expected, the Ivorian football legend named his country, Ivory Coast who happen to the host nation as top favorites for next year’s football competition.
Additionally, he pointed out the Senegalese national team, a team that is recognized as the defending champions of the tournament.
Adding to his list of favorites for the AfCON 2023 tournament, Yaya Toure named the likes Morocco, South Africa and Guinea Bissau as his three additional contenders for the 2023 AfCON trophy.
