Legendary Black Stars footballer, Odartey Lamptey has spoken about his optimism in the Black Stars ability to pull a surprise at the 2023 AfCON tournament.
In a recent disclosure made by Odartey Lamptey, he emphasized on the importance of an early camp for the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming continental showpiece.
Speaking in an exclusive interview Sienu TV, Odartey Lamptey highlighted that an early camp for the team will have a positive influence on the performance of the Ghanaian team at the tournament.
Furthermore, the Ghanaian football legend said he has followed the current team for a while and he thinks the coach has brought together a lot of young boys coupled with a number of experienced players and to the best of his knowledge, if they begin camp early it will be of great benefit.
Sharing his view on the anticipated performance of the team at the 2023 AfCON tournament, Odartey Lamptey made it clear that with the combination of these young talents and experienced coaching, the Black Stars could pull up a surprising performance at the upcoming tournament.
Making reference to Chris Houghton’s long-term stay in the Black Stars management team, Odartey indicated that the former Brighton coach, having participated in managerial affairs of the team at the 2022 World Cup, makes him a crucial asset as he can be recognized as one who has an in-depth understanding of the team.
He further disclosed that, with what he has seen Ghana has a good team and an experienced coach.
In light of this factuality, he stated that he believes that with the support of Ghanaian football fans and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), he is confident that the Black will cause a surprise at the upcoming tournament.
