Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City boss, has offered insight into why his team drew 4-4 with Chelsea in Sunday’s Premier League match.
Guardiola, analyzing the game in his post-match press conference, pointed out that the match was ‘tight,’ suggesting that the closely contested nature of the encounter played a role in preventing Manchester City from securing a victory.
Despite goals from Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, Erling Haaland (2), Manuel Akanji, and Rodri, both teams ultimately shared a point each at Stamford Bridge.
According to him, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are in good shape.
“I don’t remember a game where we came here to get the chances we had. A millions times much worse than today, when we won 0-1,” Guardiola said.
“Their shape is really good. It happens, give credit to both teams and Pochettino will give analysis about his team. It was tight. A fair result.”
He added: “The quality they are, they push you to another level to make decisions. Right now, I think it’s a fair result.”
