Iconic Ghanaian actress and media personality, Gloria Sarfo has urged Ghanaian actors to use their platforms to address the problem of teenage pregnancy.

Gloria Sarfo’s comments on the back of the alarming numbers of teenage pregnancy cases in Ghana at the moment.

Data from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has shown that over 102,000 teenagers got pregnant in 2022 and in line with the numbers, Gloria Sarfo has expressed the need to fight the menace.

Considering the detrimental effects teenage pregnancy has on those involved, as well as their families and the country in entirety, Gloria Sarfo has urged filmmakers to take advantage of the movie making terrain to help government and other active stakeholders kick against the issue of teenage pregnancy in the country.

Speaking at the Premiere of the documentary ‘Unexpected’, a documentary that touches on teenage pregnancy, the famous Ghanaian actress asserted that collaborative efforts in fighting the issue of teenage pregnancy is not crucial not to reduce but potentially alleviate it.

Suggesting a strategy to help fight the issue of teenage pregnancy, Gloria Sarfo urged filmmakers to come out with movies that delve into challenges and associated with getting pregnant as a teenager.

He also charged filmmakers to raise awareness by encouraging discussions on factors that could contribute to teenage pregnancy and how to collectively address the issue.
