Outpsoken Ghanaian legal practitioner, Lawyer Martin Kpebu has accused the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo of hindering the country’s progress by refusing to sign key bills passed by the legislative arm of government.
Citing examples to back his claim, Lawyer Martin Kpebu made reference to the Criminal Offences (Amendment) Bill 2022, otherwise known as Witchcraft Bill and the Armed Forces (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
Speaking in a recent interview monitored by Xorlali.com on Citi FM, the Ghanaian lawyer lamented the potential setbacks to democracy, urging the President to sign the bills so they can be passed as law.
According to Martin Kpebu, Nana Addo has already signed the amendment of article 29 with admiration hence he can fathom why he doesn’t want to sign the aforementioned bills when he signed the initial ones with joy.
Expressing his displeasure, Lawyer Martin Kpebu said the President refusal to sign the amendment is like taking two steps forward and five steps back.
He angrily bemoaned that the President signs the bill so Ghanaians especially the legislature can move on with whatever plans they have in the coming weeks.
