Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, a Nigerian singer, shone at the BET Awards 2023, which were held on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Tems won the “Best Collaboration” award for her work on Future’s “Wait For U,” which also features Canadian rapper Drake, despite losing two of her three nominations.

According to Xorlali.com, “Wait For U” won the 2023 Grammy for “Best Melodic Rap Performance.”

The song, which debuted at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart last year, has now won the BET twice.

At the BET Awards 2023, Tems had earlier lost to SZA in the “Best Female R&B/Pop Artist” category and to Beyoncé in the “Viewer’s Choice” category.

Burna Boy also lost out to Chris Brown and Usher for “Best Male R&B/Pop Artist” and Teyana Taylor for “Best Video Director” respectively.

The “African Giant” crooner, however, won the “Best International Act” prize a record-breaking fourth time. At the 2017 BET Awards, Beyoncé and SZA shared the most victories with three each.
