Brandi Marie Carlile is a multi-genre American singer-songwriter and producer. Carlile has seven studio albums and 18 Grammy nominations as of 2021, including one for The Firewatcher’s Daughter (2015) and six for By the Way, I Forgive You (2018).
She received six Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year (By the Way, I Forgive You), Record of the Year (By the Way, I Forgive You), and Song of the Year (“The Joke”). Carlile formed the Highwomen, an all-female quartet with Amanda Shires, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby, in 2019.

Carlile spent her childhood in the woods, building forts and playing music with her brother, Jay, and sister, Tiffany.
Carlile contracted bacterial meningitis when she was five years old, which nearly killed her. Her heart stopped several times, and she went into a coma. Carlile grew up in King County’s southern cities of Sumner, Black Diamond, Maple Valley, and Auburn, as well as briefly in West Seattle.
