Ghana keeper Ati Zigi voted best player of Swiss league after first round
Lawrence Ati Zigi of the Black Stars has been crowned the Switzerland Super League’s best player for the first round of the season, following his remarkable performance for FC ST Gallen.
The 26-year-old gave everything he had throughout the evaluation process, earning the backing of Swiss soccer fans who voted for him to win this prestigious accolade.
The Black Stars goalkeeper outlasted the harder competition in the first round, including David Douline (Servette FC), Valon Fazlu (FC Aarau), Cedric Itten (FC Young Boys), and Koro Kone (Yverdon FC).
The former FC Schoaux goalkeeper was not initially a World Cup contender for Ghana; he could only play when Jojo Wollacott and Richard Ofori were injured.
His dominance of the position for the Black Stars in Qatar, on the other hand, proved to be a perfect example of the expression “from zero to hero,” with many Ghana fans tipping him to be the first choice in the future.
After a little hiatus, the Swiss league will resume on January 23, 2022, and this honor will serve as a huge source of motivation for Ati Zigi as he enters the following round.
