Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyemang has expressed worry over the lack of interest to seeking national interest on the side of Ghanaian leaders.

In a recent interview on Cape Coast-based Asaase Radio, the chairman of the NPP national council of elders lamented while expressing his displeasure in the country’s current state of affairs.

He went on to state that passion to serve the nation and will to be in public service is no longer there. Rather, Ghanaian leaders have become more focused on serving their own selfish interest than serving the nation.

Mr. Hackman Owusu made it clear that he is dismayed by what’s happening in the country now and he feels the time has come for Ghanaians to appreciate the fact the country can only be built by citizens and nobody else.

Weighing in on the issue of corruption, the NPP bigwig emphasized the need to tackle corruptible officials head-on irrespective of who will be affected.

Furthermore, he stressed that the interest of the nation should be put above everything else adding that those who have embezzled funds belonging to the stated should be severely punished for their actions.
