The brother of Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, Afra The Voice has revealed that after his sister exceed the required sing-a-thon duration record set by the current record holder, they advised to stop because she had done enough.

However, she decided to sing for extra hours in order to make a new record besides breaking the record.

According to Afra, upon the request from her family to stop after singing for over 105 hours which happens to be the time to beat in order to become the new sing-a-thon record holder, she decided to raise the bar by singing for an additional twenty hour period.

Currently, Afua Asantewaa has ended her sing-a-thon challenge after singing for as long as 126.52 hours which is an indication that unofficially, she is the new record holder.

However, she would have to wait for confirmation from the Guinness World Record team and after careful observation of her five-day sing-a-thon duration.

She would be recognized as the new sing-a-thon record holder if she is not culpable of violating any rules regarding the singing marathon challenge.

Furthermore, in line with some of the breaks she took amid her five-day sing-a-thon duration, there will be numerous deductions from the 126.52 hours she has done and barring any rule violation, she would be adjudged the new sing-a-thon record holder if the entire period she sang exceeded the 105-hour record limit.

On record, Afua Asantewaa is the first and only female to have attempted the sing-a-thon challenge and she might go down as the only Ghanaian female musician to have her name in the Guinness Book of Records if her attempt is validated by the World Record enlistment board.
