The Ghana football Association have sacked coach Chris Hughton after his abysmal performance at the Afcon 2023

In a statement which was released by the Ghana Football Association indicated that, Chris Hughton should draw the curtains down as the head coach of the senior national team with an immediate effect.

“The Ghana Football Association wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Senior National team with immediate effect.”

Meanwhile, the Executive council of the Ghana Football Association laid off all the technical team as well.

“The Executive Council has also taken a decision to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars.”

“The Ghana Football Association will in the coming days provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars.”

Coach Chris Hughton’s period with the Black Stars hasn’t been anything to write home about, taking into consideration, his performances in all thirteen games. He won four games, lost four and drew five. In all, Coach Hughton had thirteen goals, conceded sixteen and four clean sheets to his credit.

He failed to win any game at the Afcon 23 . Losing against Cape Verde, securing a 2:2 draw against Egypt and Mozambique in the group. These results weren’t good enough to progress Ghana into the next stage of the competition.
